This week, we have a lecture presented by the African Studies Center at Boston University, and titled “Missionaries, Snakes and Survivors: Depictions of Africa with the Poisonwood Bible.” Our speaker is freelance journalist and travel writer, Thomas Kilduff.

Mr. Kilduff sounds as if he is presenting a book report, or reading a high school thesis paper. I am falling asleep. Why did he feel the need to re-write the bible? As if we need another document paralleling the stories in the "good book." He also ended his speech with the phrase, "in conclusion." Somebody. Take him off the stage!
